Dinner Set: IKEA, Bedding: Happy Friday at BHS, Mugs & Towels: Asda, Bath Mat: Matalan, Tea Towels: Morrisons, Pans: Aldi
I've been dying to blog about all the lovely new things I bought for living at university. I was definitely one of those people that came over prepared. Aside from all the basics you see above, I was that person who brought a measuring jug, scales, mixing bowls - and I haven't even baked yet!
Everyone told me not to buy anything 'too nice' for uni because it was inevitably going to end up broke or stolen. I'll admit my bedding is stained with UV paint and I've already broke my first glass, but I'm a sensible girl, with lovely flat mates, and I want pretty things dammit! It was nice to buy things that reflected my style rather than sticking with the boring white crockery and cream towels that I'm used to at home.
A little tip I've picked up is to only keep one of everything in the kitchen and store the rest in your room. This encourages you to wash up, and prevents you breaking your dishes as you play jenga with the precariously stacked pile.
Other items I'd highly recommend bringing which not everyone thinks to include are a clothes maiden (save on drying costs!), and extension lead, a whiteboard (for to-do lists or schedules), mattress protector/topper, a door stop and lots of lovely storage boxes to make your room look a bit more organised.
